Strategy To Improve Informal Settlements In Kiambu County

By MKT Correspondent

Kiambu County is set to make significant progress in improving housing conditions and enhancing the quality of life for residents through a strategic partnership with South Consulting Africa Limited.

The collaboration is part of the Second Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project (KISIP 2), aimed at fostering sustainable development and enhancing living conditions across Kiambu.

The strategy will be community-inclusive, addressing the unique challenges and aspirations of Kiambu residents.

Customised solutions will be developed to address the unique needs of each county, ensuring relevance and effectiveness in addressing the unique challenges faced by residents.

The strategy will involve a thorough situational analysis, extensive field studies, and input from residents and leaders to create an actionable plan for slum upgrading and prevention.

The initiative receives support from major stakeholders, including the government, the World Bank, the European Union, and AFD France, and aims to create a robust framework for addressing slum challenges and fostering sustainable urban development.

Kiambu is among the selected counties for the KISIP phase II project, with three informal settlements set for upgrade.
