The New Democrats (TND) Tetu constituency parliamentary candidate Alex Gitonga Gathii alias Tanolope and his supporters have thrown their weight behind Azimio La Umoja Kenya Moja coalition.
In a press briefing at Wamagana, the constituency headquarters, Gathii said he made the decision after carefully going through the manifesto of all the presidential candidates who were recently cleared by the IEBC.
“Azimio has the best manifesto that seems to cater for the interests of all Kenyans. It has the best for all and that is what has informed our decision,” Gathii who was accompanied by dozens of his supporters said.
He said he was optimistic of capturing the parliamentary seat due to among other reasons, his contribution to its development when he served as the Personal Assistant to the former area MP the late Professor Wangari Maathai.
“My record speaks for itself. Most of the voters know what we did during the Professor Mathai reign,” he said, adding that he has since then been engaging the locals by assisting them in improving their dairy farming through his firm, Tanolope Consultancy.
Gathii is battling it with among others Martin Lutherking Githigaro of Jubilee party, Geoffrey Wandeto of UDA and Simon Ngatia of Chama Cha Kazi (CCK).
