Stephen Mupoto [Professor Ngugi waMkirii]
I jog my mind,
And trot my soul,
As I gallop through life’s highways.
I peep through the chinks,
Of eternity,
And perceive damnation lying ahead.
I saunter through the dark valleys of life,
And canter like a lame horse.
Stand I on the rooftops,
Of life’s impervious horizons,
And take one last glance,
At the tribulations of mankind.
I see people wailing,
And wallow deep in mire,
As they pay tribute to their impoverished state,
With glowing genuflactures
At the majesty of their tormentor.
Troubled are the touthful souls,
That trudge in innocence,
Through the hallmarks of deception,
And their pine gullibility exploited,
And for trinkets the behead each other.
