‘I Need Your Voice’, President Ruto Tells Deputy President Kithure Kindiki
President William Ruto and his Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki
President Ruto while giving his speech during the swearing in ceremony of Prof Kithure Kindiki at KICC, he showed an indirect attack to the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua who was removed from office through impeachment. Gachagua’s relief ended on Thursday afternoon after a bench of three High Court Judges Anthony Murima, Eric Ogola and Fredah Mugambi vacated conservatory orders that were preventing the swearing in of Prof Kithure Kindiki.
The president on congratulating and applauding Kindiki during his swearing in ceremony, Ruto used a remorseful tone on being like a ‘lonely voice’ in giving information about government programs and projects especially from the presidency. He praised Kindiki’s ability to undertake his duties effectively. The president made a heartfelt request directly to Kindiki by saying, ‘You are eloquent, my brother; you are intelligent, my brother; I’m confident that you will do what I have missed in the last two years, I know you will.’
While complementing the intellect capabilities of the Deputy president Kithure Kindiki, Ruto appealed to Kindiki to assist him by using his eloquence in communicating what the executive is doing,expressing that is what has lacked in the last two years. ‘I have almost become a lonely voice in the executive especially within the presidency, speaking about our programs and elaborating on our work’, the president said.
This remarks openly expressed what may have caused the fallout between him and his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua. The president emphasizing on the oath of office, Ruto asked Prof. Kindiki to work for all Kenyans without favor, affection or fear.
