The ruling party nominations ahead of the forthcoming General Election will be free and fair, Director of Election and Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has asserted.
Kega insisted that Jubilee party does not have any preferred candidate for any political seat, save for the Presidential one where it is supporting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga under Azimio La Umoja coalition.
He spoke at party headquarters in Pangani area, Nairobi when he received defectors from among other parties, Chama Cha Kazi which is headed by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
“Jubilee party nomination certificates are not here at the party headquarters. They are out there. They are with party supporters who will decide who will vie using our party,” he observed, adding that the party was putting in place mechanism that will ensure the exercise will be very fair.
Saying the party doesn’t have any preferred candidates for Governors, Senators, Women Representatives, Members of Parliament or Members of County Assemblies, Kega urged the party supporters to ensure they nominated popular candidates who would eventually win during the General Election on August 9.
He disclosed that the much talked about ‘earthquake ‘ at Jubilee party headquarters would soon come in the open when the party will make public the list of politicians who will be vying for various seats via the party.
“The earthquake is coming. When we release the list of aspirants, Kenyans will be shocked. This will be the much talked about earthquake,” he said.
During the colourful ceremony, more than 500 voters from Kiambaa constituency joined the party.
They were led by Ms Damaris Wambui Waiganjo who will be contesting the parliamentary seat.
Also present were Kiambu County Deputy Governor Dr Joyce Wanjiku Ngugi who will be seeking to succeed Kuria as Gatundu South MP.
The Kieni MP also received Kasarani constituency parliamentary aspirant Njoroge Njonge who became the forthcoming aspirant in the constituency on Jubilee ticket.
