I would like to applaud the Mukurwe-ini TTI board and management for the tremendous work they have been doing and especially putting the institution on the national map and ensuring rigorous involvement of all Mt. Kenya stakeholders in the activities of the institution. This ceremony could not have come at a better time than now. Indeed, it marks a turning point in the history of the institution and the country as a whole.” Noted the Deputy President.
Over 800 students yesterday graduated at Mukurwe-ini Technical Training Institute (TTI) during its inaugural graduation ceremony.
The graduands were conferred with diplomas and certificates during the ceremony at the institution based at Gikondi Trading Centre.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua presided over the ceremony where he called on the youth to take up the technical courses saying they had better returns.

The DP also advised the graduands to use the skills attained to positively impact the world.
Mukurwe-ini TTI remains one of the few TVET institutions in the country that has witnessed one of the highest growths in enrolment from 450 in 2028 to over 2,000 this year.
While congratulating the graduands, the BoG Chairperson Anthony Mithanga noted that the first graduation ceremony symbolizes the institution’s success and rigorous effort and sacrifice from the BoG, Staff, students, boundless support from the community, parents and the development partners.
The chairman also thanked Gikondi residents and the Catholic Church for donating over 60 acres for the institution.
Mukurwe-ini TTI is one of the colleges that have been constructed with the support from the Africa Development Bank (AFDB) to the tune of Kshs. 500 Million. It can accommodate over 5,000 trainees.
“The skills you have acquired has prepared you to meet the challenges of life out there. You are equipped with the relevant knowledge, skills and positive attitude to succeed. Go forth with confidence, resilience. Remain adaptable to the rapidly changing situations in the world and this world will be for you to conquer.” Principal Patrick Muchemi advised the graduands.
State Department of Vocational and Technical Training PS Dr. Esther Thaara and Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia lauded the good work of the institution and also thanked those who were founders of the learning institution.
A five-year strategic plan was also unveiled which will be implemented in the next five years.
Before presiding over the ceremony, the DP visited Wamutitu Secondary School where he handed over a new bus for the institution.
Among the leaders who accompanied him were Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina, Kieni’s Njoroge Wainaina and Eric Wamumbi of Mathira constituency.
