A new Savings and Credit Society, Mwaramo Sacco is changing the living standards of scores of its members.
The Sacco, opened by bodaboda operators in Othaya Constituency, is only three years old and has changed the fortune of its members.
The Sacco’s patron Wachira Maina Kahihia told GTN TV morning where he was hosted by Waithaka Kinyua that they were planning to open branches in the neighbouring constituencies.
The patron, who is a lawyer by profession, revealed that the Sacco was started by default, where a few bodaboda operators in the area sought his legal advice after they were allegedly defrauded in their Self-Help-Group.
He said that after listening to them, he advised that they should think of starting another initiative where they would be sure that their finances were safe.
That way, Mwaramo Sacco was born.
After registering and saving for more than a year, they started offering loan services to the members.
During their second Annual General Meeting, the members agreed to incorporate members of the public, eking a living in order sectors to join and benefit like them.
Since then, farmers, employees in various sectors and traders different categories have since joined the new Sacco.
He called residents of Othaya to consider joining the Sacco and benefit like their colleagues.
