President William Ruto is currently on a third leg of his five-day development tour of Kenya’s capital of Nairobi.
He has so far inspected a number of the ongoing development projects and launched new ones.
The projects range from commissioning of the second phase of the clean-up of Nairobi River, official opening of Technical and Vocational Training College at Kamukunji, construction of a 800-bed dormitory at St Teresa’s Secondary School in Mathare.
The President also pledged Sh5 million for equipping of the dormitories and construction of 10 more classrooms.
The head of state further launched the construction of five more schools and affordable housing units in Mathare.
As a government, our commitment to building of affordable and decent houses for Kenyans is beyond reproach.
Our goal is to lift Kenyans out of deplorable conditions of living in dilapidated and highly insecure slums.
We have made great strides. More units are houses are complete and ready for occupancy. We are soon going to allocate the houses to the owners.
The beneficiaries are people of all walks of life including the poor and vulnerable people.
On Nairobi County Government School Feeding Programme, the President hailed Governor Johnson Sakaja for walking the talk.
The national government has been partnering with the county in ensuring the success of this noble program.
Food4Education, popularly known as ‘Dishi Na County’ is here to stay.
The President further pledged to buy the Nairobi County Government a machine capable of making a million chapatis per day.
The goal is to boost enrollment of our children. No child should stay at home or drop out of school due to hunger.
In Dagoretti South, the President’s activities began with launching of Technical and Vocational Training College.
Since he kicked off the tour, thousands of the Nairobi residents have been turning up to welcome the President and listen to his speeches.
It is worth noting contrary to the impression created by his critics, a host of elected ODM and UDA leaders drawn from Nairobi were accompanying the President.
This development tour reaffirms the President’s commitment to equal sharing of the national cake.
The Nairobi visit had been preceded by development tours in other parts of the country.
