MKU Dominates Regional Universities Sports Federation Competition
MKU teams with some of the trophies they won

Sports teams from Mount Kenya University (MKU) dominated at the Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) Nairobi North regional awards ceremony.
The event, held at MKU, saw the institution named the best in the Private University award, the Best host University award, and the Most punctual University in addition to the 1st runners-up overall winning university.
Kenyatta University emerged the overall winners, scooping the best public university award while Jomo Kenyatta University finished 2nd runners-up overall best university.
The Nairobi North Universities league commenced in September last year and will be officially ending this weekend.
The colourful awards ceremony was graced by Mount Kenya University Principal Student Welfare Division Mr. Peter Waweru who encouraged the students to uphold integrity and ensure they always field eligible students as per the KUSF eligibility regulations.
He reminded the players to be keen on their mental capacity and to seriously take care of their mental well-being.
He encouraged the Nairobi North conference officials to plan and implement capacity building and training forums on mental health matters to players, coaches’ officials and university members of staff who are in the sports department.
The university sports, film and creative arts coordinator, Mr. William Luta reminisced how the long season has been very competitive but a success that saw the conference hold over 20 sports discipline competitions across the two genders. “The success you see today is solemnly out of sheer determination, persistence, perseverance, dedication and discipline from the students. As Mount Kenya University we are happy with the results and must commend the management for the big support in facilitating the sporting department with all the necessary needs to ensure the teams and students are good to go,” he noted, adding, “the coaches, captains and players in general have done a great job, you can see it all in their faces as they embrace the many trophies they have won.”
Mr. Luta who is also the Secretary General KUSF Nairobi North Conference talked of many plans they have for the region that includes taking the conference activities to higher heights, saying they were looking forward to partnering with progressive local and international sporting organizations that will expose their players to better sporting forums.
With the regional activity being over, the MKU teams retreat back to prepare for the Kenya Universities Sports Federation national championship that is scheduled for Friday to Sunday next week at Kenyatta University.
