The Nyeri County government Executive Committee Members yesterday signed their performance contracts as a sign of their commitment to achieving specific service delivery targets that are verifiable and auditable.
The signing is in fulfilment of the law governing establishment of their offices which dictates the formation of a system of managing performance.
Area governor Mutahi Kahiga oversaw the process which took place in his office where he noted that performance contracting aims at improving efficiency and effectiveness in public service management.
He encouraged the CECs to sustain the same momentum as witnessed in the last five years which has seen other counties seeking to benchmark with them.
He further directed the CECs to ensure that various projects running under their departments are completed as scheduled.
The signing of the contracts is an annual event that paves the way for the CECMs to work on the five-year Counties Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs) as well as the Annual Development Plans ( ADPs).
Those who signed the contracts include Robert Thuo (Finance and Acting Health CEC), Fredrick Kinyua (Water and Environment), Ndirangu Gachunia (Public Service and Acting CEC for Transport & Infrastructure), Diana Kendi (Trade & Tourism and Acting Lands CEC), Esther Ndung’u (Gender and Youth) and Margaret Macharia (Education and Sports). Other officers are expected to also sign their contracts within the week.
The performance contracts have been signed belatedly due to some factors, among them last August General Election. However, the implementation of projects has been on course since the current Financial started in July last year.
